Gucci Spring/Summer 2025: 60s Nostalgia Meets Modern Edge on the Runway

Sabato De Sarno’s time at Gucci has been defined by a shift toward a more refined, wearable luxury. Appointed in 2023, he set out to move the brand forward with what some have called “quiet luxury”, though he rejects that label. “People have written of my fashion as minimal, quiet luxury, but to me it’s really the opposite,” De Sarno told Vogue. His approach blends heritage with modern Italian sophistication, focusing on timeless, high-quality pieces that feel effortless yet intentional.

For Spring/Summer 2025, Gucci presented a collection grounded in clean, tailored lines and a rich color palette, including its signature Gucci Rosso Ancora, a deep, striking red that has become synonymous with De Sarno’s vision. The show took place at Triennale Milano, where the space was designed to reflect the fleeting beauty of a summer sunset, with each room bathed in a different tone. The setting reinforced De Sarno’s belief in capturing singular, unrepeatable moments, a theme that runs through his designs.

The collection builds on Gucci’s legacy of effortless elegance, blending classic house codes with modern versatility. Alongside the precisely tailored silhouettes, accessories played a key role in shaping the collection’s aesthetic. The Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag remained a standout, reinforcing the brand’s heritage. New designs debuted on the runway, including the Gucci 73 bucket bag and the Gucci Go bag, both structured and designed for everyday wear. Footwear leaned into a 1960s influence, with flat boots featuring the signature Horsebit detail. Accessories were finished with wrap-around sunglasses with gradient lenses, adding a sleek, retro-futuristic touch.

For De Sarno, this collection is about more than just fashion. It is about capturing fleeting beauty and appreciating the present. “A precise moment in time. A moment to seize and live to the fullest. It’s the moment the sun dives into the sea at the end of an August day. It’s the moment we find ourselves. This collection is a tribute to those moments, and an invitation to stop, seek your own moment.”

De Sarno continues to refine Gucci’s identity, balancing heritage with modernity, statement-making pieces with quiet sophistication, and exclusivity with wearability. “I don’t want the invitees to my runways to say, Wow, wow, and then forget about it the next day.” Instead, he wants them to appreciate the craftsmanship and hidden details, dream about the pieces, and ultimately walk into Gucci boutiques in four months “to buy it and wear it.” (Vogue)

I’m actually really liking this collection. The light, effortless feel makes it perfect for summer, and the chic hats and breezy silhouettes add a polished yet wearable touch. It feels refined but still has that signature Gucci attitude, making it easy to imagine these pieces being worn beyond the runway. Can’t wait to shop the collection!

If you see something you love and need it sourced, let me know. I work directly with boutiques and department stores to track down runway collections, and I’d be happy to help you secure a piece.
